Stray Horse Standard Cocktail Set
2000 Western Design Conference, Best Artist - Metal

The Stray Horse Standard cocktail set is a fusion of past and present; a combination of natural and manmade form. Quandary Design envisioned a piece that would merge these attributes into a piece that would celebrate the pioneering spirit of the old west and the perseverance of the west as it stands today. The sprocket wheel pattern used as the tabletop is reminiscent of the colorful mining past of Quandary Design’s own hometown of Leadville, Colorado. The fabricated T-fenceposts that serve as the base of the bar stools, are a constant reminder that the rancher and the farmer although dwindling are still alive. Animalistic in form, the cast aluminum legs of the cocktail table were inspired by a deer spine encountered on daily morning runs by Greg Race of Quandary Design.
